HypnoBirthing® transformed my birthing experiences! I went from surviving my first birth to feeling empowered and energized with my last two births! HypnoBirthing is a philosophy in as much as it is a program. As a therapist I love that the program is not only focused on techniques, but on the mental, emotional and psychological components that impact our birthing experience. This program will help you feel more comfortable and confident about your upcoming birth knowing you have tools to handle whatever type of birth you have.
I offer my groups virtually and purposely keep my class sizes small so couples can feel comfortable and supported. I work hard to create a warm close knit virtual space where we have time to learn, practice, connect and ask as many questions as needed.
In my groups you will learn how to increase your chances of a calm and comfortable birth through specific techniques. As a clinical hypnotherapist, I can guide you on the techniques that will be the best fit for your learning style. You can feel empowered and confident going into birth, not because you can predict your birth, but because you'll learn how to work with the unknown, planing for what you hope, and feeling capable of working through what comes. You will learn techniques to help with comfort (and for many the elimination of pain), stress, anxiety and deep body relaxation.
Your birthing partner will also learn a lot! For example, they will learn how to best support you with comfort and relaxation, while also learning birth preferences and how to be informed and so you two can make the decisions that work best for YOU!
Unsure if HypnoBirthing® is for you? Check out the lovely reviews my couples have left on Google, Yelp and Facebook!
I also offer free phone consultations to answer more specific questions as well.
What is HypnoBirthing?
HypnoBirthing® - The Mongan Method is a 5-6 week course that was developed and founded by Marie Mongan, M.Ed., M.Hy. Marie was a pioneer herself and had four children, all born in the late 1950s and early 60s, without the use of medication. She is the founder of HypnoBirthing (HB), and the HypnoBirthing Institute, which now has practitioners around the world from Tokyo to Calgary. HypnoBirthing® encourages parents to be informed and to reflect on the birthing experience they desire and the environment they want to create for their baby, before, during and after labour. Mom's and their partners receive over 13 hours of education, the HypnoBirthing textbook, a spiral bound workbook, as well as audio recordings, that include affirmations and hypnosis!
Women and their partners will learn:
One study found women taking HypnoBirthing® had substantially less epidurals, IV fluids, fewer C-sections and less babies with low birth rate.

HypnoBirthing® is an experience that changed not only how I birthed, but my life as well. My HypnoBirthing experience has taught me that birth doesn't have to be scary and I don't have to feel helpless, in fact I can be empowered and use various techniques to help with many different aspects of birth. I teach my groups through the eyes of a mother of three whose used HypnoBirthing® herself, as a hypnotherapist who specializes in clinical hypnosis for mental health, and as a fellow human being recognizing birth is unknown, unpredictable and having support and tools, offered in a non-judgemental way, can be life changing for my clients as well. As a HypnoBirthing® instructor for over 10 years, I work hard to make each group relevant for the couples I work with, to create a supportive atmosphere where couples get to know each other and to help make the class not only informative and helpful, but lots of fun too!
Click here to see a overview of what is covered in this amazing empowering course (please note the OCH HypnoBirthing® course is covered in 6 sessions vs the standard 5 sessions, allowing more time for practice, questions and a slower pace class).
The course is virtual and typically held over 6 weeks. Each group is over 2 hours long and often held on a weeknight. Each class builds on the other, so by the end of the 6 classes you'll understand not only how your body works during labour and birth, but you'll also have learned and practiced multiple techniques to help you reach a state of calm and comfort in mind and body. Mom's and their partner have the opportunity to experience a greater level of calm and confidence about birth every week, leading them better prepared for the upcoming birth. Each class I set aside time for questions and practice, so we aren't rushed. I also work hard to create a sense of community, it's not just a class; we have fun and support each other. My goal is to help YOU get the most out of the course and to help you feel more prepared, confident and excited about your ability to navigate your upcoming birth!
All groups are currently virtual. Class sizes are limited in order to create a small, inviting group that allows lots of time for practice, questions, community and fun!
